* President pledges to fulfill people’s expectations, create jobs
* Says mobile banking will help poor receive funds in transparent way
ISLAMABAD/NAUDERO: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari on Sunday said that the PPP did not believe in personal revenge and was taking revenge of the assassination of Benazir Bhutto by changing the system.
“We are taking the revenge of mohtarma’s assassination by changing the system. We do not believe in personal revenge,” the president said in a special interview with Radio Pakistan DG Murtaza Solangi, at the eve of the third death anniversary of Benazir Bhutto, telecasted by the state television on Sunday night.
However, the president added that as BB had been killed, investigations in the case were in progress and those involved in the heinous crime would be brought to justice. “The law will take its own course,” he said.
He said the PPP-led government was carrying forward the mission and vision of its great leaders Zulfikar Ali Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto for a better Pakistan, adding that the main thrust of their vision was to bring a qualitative change in the lives of the downtrodden.
The president said the government was moving in the right direction in accordance with the vision of their great leaders but it would take time to build a stronger Pakistan.
He added that though the development of a country takes decades, “we have put the country towards that direction”.
Separately, while addressing a launch ceremony of mobile phone banking under the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) held at Naudero, President Zardari pledged to fulfill people’s expectations and to set up industrial estates at various parts of the country to create thousands of new jobs.
The president said that creating jobs would keep the country’s youth away from violence and enable them to play a productive role in national life. Cabinet ministers, BISP Chairwomen Farzana Raja, Bakhtawar Bhutto Zardari and Asifa Bhutto Zardari attended the ceremony.
The president said that mobile banking named after the assassinated leader, Benazir Bhutto was being launched in Pakistan for the first time. It (Mobile Banking) would help promote E-banking, he said.
“The government identifies with people living below the poverty line and now through mobile banking, Rs 1,000 would reach them in a transparent manner,” he added. The president said that the facilities of women’s protection and rescue would also be incorporated in the card, which will enable the user to register a complaint against anyone committing excess, including police personnel. Separately, the president also inaugurated a Sindh Bank branch in Naudero
