Islamabad September 19, 2013: Former President of Pakistan Mr. Asif Ali Zardari has said that Mir Murtaza Bhutto Shaheed was gunned down on September 20, 1996 to silence a Bhutto and at the same time to overthrow the PPP government.
This the former President said in a message on the 17th death anniversary of Mir Murtaza Bhutto on Friday September 20.
Paying tributes to Mir Murtaza he said that the scion of Bhutto family endured the assassination of his father, the torturing of his mother and sister, the killing of his younger brother and the rigors of exile but refused to compromise with the oppressors and dictators.
Mir Murataza was a man of great courage who lived an eventful life dedicated to fighting against dictatorship, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari said in his message.
The ex- President also prayed for eternal rest to the soul of Mir Murtaza and a high place in heaven for his and the souls of those killed with him.
May Allah grant patience to their heirs to bear this heavy loss, Mr. Asif Ali Zardari said. The former President said that death comes at the appointed time and Murtaza was never afraid of dying. However, the wheels of time turn and the assassins of Mir Murtaza would not escape retribution.
